As prom season approaches, the GFWC Miami Springs Woman’s Club, in collaboration with the Miami Springs Police Department, is hosting “IN THEIR SHOES: TEEN & DATING VIOLENCE,” an interactive program designed to educate teens (ages 14+) about the realities of dating violence.

This powerful, hands-on experience immerses participants in real-life scenarios based on true cases, helping them recognize the warning signs of unhealthy relationships. Through guided activities, teens will gain critical knowledge on how to protect themselves and support others, fostering a culture of safety, respect, and awareness.

 

 This program provides essential tools and education to help teens make informed decisions about relationships and personal safety.

​Every year, nearly 1.5 million high school students are physically abused by their partners.

​

About one in three high school students have been or will be involved in an abusive relationship.

​

Forty percent of teenage girls ages 14 to 17 say they know someone their age who has been hit or beaten by a boyfriend.

 

In one study, from 30 to 50 percent of female high school students reported having already experienced teen dating violence.
